Tuesday/Wednesday
Good morning to all. Today we are going to catch up, finish up, and start our first class project. How exciting! We will also be working on the bleachers because Friday I got word that the football team needs them done for the game on the 28th. So, we will need to get busy and also put in some hours after school and on the weekends. Before we get started here is what I need from you. Check your grade in Power School to see what you are missing. Then get it done. I want everyone to take all the tests if you have not already. I need you to write out the correct statement for all of the questions you got wrong on you final test five times each and give those back to me. I also want any missing Safety Posters or Tool Pamphlets. They will be graded as late, but 70% is better than zero. As a group we will finish practicing using some of the power tools and then we will begin making Eileen Wine Stands. Below are the plans we will follow and use in class for building the stands. We have some more going on. Now, I know all you want to do is hands on stuff. But, there is a lot of important material the we will need to cover throughout this year. So, instead of lecturing during class (boring) I have decided to have you take notes at home or out of class hours. Below are a keynote presentation and a pages document that you will use to study from and complete a CLOZE note assignment. That simply means fill in all the blanks. This will be due by MONDAY (Period 2) and TUESDAY (for all other periods), so you better get on it. We will discuss in further detail on Thursday and Monday, then take a quiz on this new material. 1.1 Selecting, Cutting & Shaping Wood.key Unit 1.1 Woodworking_Selecting Wood.pages
Friday
And today we work! Yesss! Our first group project in the workshop is happening today. A quick reminder for all of you. Our woodworking notes will be due Monday morning so get busy this weekend and be ready to discuss and test on the material on Mon/Tues. We are going to start off with a quick presentation and demonstration about using a tape measure and then we will go next door and start working.
